Around 1860, Walloon chemist Jacques Blockx was approached by his artist friends asking him to develop a watercolour paint similar to those used by the old masters. By 1865, his watercolours were ready. A watercolour as bright as a sunny summer’s day. Richly pigmented, a delight to use, easily soluble and unprecedentedly brilliant. BLOCKX watercolours proved extremely popular and to this day are the choice of many an artist.

The sublime and powerful colours of these watercolours are rightly renowned for their transparency, stability and lightfastness. They contain only the purest, extremely fine pigments in the highest possible concentrations, rubbed in honey, glycerine and gum arabic.

There is no indication of lightfastness with BLOCKX. All BLOCKX colours are lightfast. Always.
